Realme GT 5 Pro

We have a new Realme GT 5 Pro on our Smartphone list for 2024. It’ll launch in India in February, if this phone launches in India, there are a lot of questions about it. It’ll come up to Rs 50K if it launches in India. It’s an 8th Gen 3 phone with amazing specifications.

Realme GT 5 Pro

It has a black box with golden stripes & black lettering. It’s a big & thick box, which looks good. It’s a grey case with a big camera module in the middle. All the latest phones come with this design, which will be very common in 2024. It has a SIM card tool & documentation. It has a 100W charger, which is good. It has a USB Type A to Type C charging cable.

Design and Display:

Realme GT 5 Pro

Design It has a vegan leather design & looks beautiful. The camera module is seriously protruding. The phone is literally in a slant position. It comes in 3 colours, red, white & black. The front of the phone looks heavy. Because of the big camera module, it looks heavy in the hand. It’s about 222g. The front display is curved & so is the back, and the frame is metal.

Ports & buttons, there’s a SIM card tray at the bottom. There’s a Microphone USB Type C port. On the right, there’s a power-on button & a volume rocker. On the top, there are 3 things. There’s a noise-cancelling microphone, an IR blaster & a speaker grill. There’s nothing on the left-hand side. The bezels are getting thinner. There’ll be a lot of phones in 2024 which will have very few bezels and this is one of them. Because it’s a curved display, you can’t see the upper & lower bezels. It’s thin & has a 94% screen-to-body ratio. Talking about the display, it’s a 6.78” 1.5K 144Hz fast refresh rate HDR10+. It supports 4500 nits peak brightness.

Camera Quality

The camera has a periscope sensor which is Sony’s 890 periscope sensor. It gives you 3X optical zoom. It’s an 8MP ultrawide camera with a 50MP primary sensor. The camera setup is optimized for the Chinese variant. But the photos look a little inconsistent. The color’s are good but there’s a bloom effect in HDR.

Realme GT 5 Pro

The colours between primary & ultrawide look inconsistent. It has 120X optical zoom. It’s not of good quality & we’ve seen 100X good quality photos on Samsung S23 Ultra & iQOO 12. So I’d say it has a good zoom. Interestingly, there are a lot of phones, especially the Chinese variant, that use different mixed sensors like Omnivision, Samsung & Sony. And their processing is different. So it isn’t easy to bring them all in one line. And that’s why the inconsistent performance is there.

Realme GT 5 Pro

It has a 32MP selfie sensor. The skin tones are a little whitish. I won’t say that because the Indian variant will be different. You’ll be able to shoot 4K 30FPS videos with the selfie camera. You’ll be able to shoot 8K 24FPS videos with the rear camera. So the flagship phones of 4K & 8K should have 8K.

More About Realme GT 5 Pro

There are 12 different gestures with which you can control the phone. It has AI-supported features. You can control the phone with gestures. If you want to open the phone, you can use face unlock. If you want to unlock the palm, you can scan it & open it. There’s a Realme UI 5.0 which is based on Android 14 & there are some new features.

Realme GT 5 Pro

It has Wi-Fi 7, 5G, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4. So all connectivity options are there. It has an IP64 certification. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor and face & palm unlock. It has a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type C port. So you get 10Gbps data throughput. This is very important for streaming & gaming.

Realme GT 5 Pro

Multimedia has an excellent immersive display. It has amazing colours, viewing angles & a great viewing experience. It has Dolby Atmos-supported dual stereo speakers. So the multimedia experience is top-notch. On paper, the AnTuTu score is above 2M. And the 8th Gen 3 gives a score of 2M.

Conclusion

So the flagship phones of 4K & 8K should have 8K resolution. An interesting thing is that it’ll cost around Rs 50K. But the Realme 12 series will cost under Rs 30K and there are rumours that it’ll have a periscope sensor. I think getting a periscope sensor under Rs 30K will be a big thing. But if we talk about the price, the base variant in China is 3400 Yuan. Which is basically around Rs 40K if you convert it. So if you add taxes in India, I think it’ll be around Rs 45-50K.

Realme GT 5 Pro

If you buy a GT 5 Pro for Rs 50K, you’ll get the iQOO 12, OnePlus 12, and Vivo X100. So there are a lot of choices in this particular price range. But in this Rs 50-60K price range, will you pick up the Realme GT 5 Pro? It doesn’t have a distinctive feature like a periscope, it has a great display & looks good. But there’s also competition in this particular price range. I think it’s going to be tough for Realme to crack this particular price segment.
